What is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting (BSP) is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other emotional and somatic symptoms including:

PTSD

DEPRESSION

Anxiety, Phobias, OCD, Panic Disorders

ANGER

Complicated Grief

Sleep Issues

Performance Anxiety

Addictions [especially cravings]

Stress Management

Environmental Illness + Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Fibromyalgia + Other Chronic Pain Conditions

Mass Trauma including War + Natural Disasters

Brainspotting can also be applied for creative blocks and creativity enhancement. Writers, artists, musicians and actors can move past creative blocks and move forward toward their innate creativity. Actors can use BSP to connect on a deeper level with their characters, allowing for more dynamic and moving performances.

BSP can also be used for significant sports performance problems to include: slumps, performance blocks and anxiety as well as the Yips. BSP can also be used for sports performance expansion, allowing the athlete to reach their full performance potential!

Erin Schramm is a sports and arts lover. As such, she specializes in working with creative people, actors and athletes at all levels.

"Creativity is an expound
neuroexperiential process."

How Does Brainspotting Work?

BSP makes use of the natural phenomenon of where you look affects how you feel. Together the therapist and client pair a fixed eye position and body sensation to an unresolved issue. Paired with bilateral sound; this rapid, highly effective mind/body centered therapy technique goes beyond the cognitive awareness and connects one to their body’s innate wisdom to heal itself.

The goal of BSP is to bring the client’s system from dysregulation towards or into regulation. In traditional talk therapies, only the frontal lobe and neocortex (prefrontal cortex) are involved. Brainspotting allows for processing deep in the brain in the agranular isocortex, midbrain and limbic system. Processing  happens in the agranular isocortex and allocortex in the limbic system  and also the brain stem (which means access to the regulation of the body.)

How Effective are the Results?

Duration of treatment will vary depending on each client. BSP can help to resolve years of mental, emotional or physical dysregulation in as little as one session. Life altering change can occur in a minimal amount of time versus years of traditional talk therapies. Clients report  that they are able to find the cause of their conflicts and turn them into growth opportunities.
